One Year Ago Today...

After almost seven weeks of bed rest, I took this picture a day before my surprise delivery at 35 weeks. Insane how huge I was! I just cannot believe that tomorrow my babies are one!

Yup, outgrowing the maternity clothes. Nice. :)

First Birthday Pictures

We had Owen and Emmaline's first birthday pictures taken last Sunday, and a few are below. We used the outfits they will wear at their party on Saturday with the white background (I had them made to go with the Turtles and Tutus theme), and they just look so serious in them! We finally got a few smiles after the outfit change. :) I love them, and have already started framing them around the house, replacing their six month photos. It is so hard to look at the changes between the six month and first year pictures!

The Countdown Begins!

I cannot believe it, Owen and Emmaline will be ONE next Friday! We have been through so much together this past year, and darnit, we deserve a party! :) The party planning is under way for next weekend, and I can't wait to post the pictures!

We spent July 4th weekend in Oklahoma, and visited our families in Norman and Hydro. My sister-in-law had a party at her house the night of the Fourth, complete with an impressive fireworks show put on by the guys. :) By that time, it was waaaay past Twin Bedtime. Owen was not a fan of the fireworks noises, so we kept him inside to play. Emmaline, however, was a hoot, and would reach out her hands to "touch" the fireworks and would yell and clap, even during the super loud booms. Unfortunately, I was so busy talking and running babies around, I never took any pictures!

Emmaline started walking with assistance about a month ago, and is cruising furniture. We're going to start a few light exercises with Owen to get his motivation going. The kid just doesn't' want to bother, but will take a few steps with assistance and will use furniture to balance.

Emmaline: "Strike a pose, there's nothing to it, VOGUE, vogue, vogue..."

At around 9 1/2 months, both dropped baby food altogether (and still didn't have any teeth!), and have been eating whatever we can cut into pieces fast enough! They are also drinking out of a sippy cup, though most of the time they have more fun shaking the water all over their tray than actually drinking it! They love fruit and grilled cheese sandwiches, but I'm still trying to warm them up to green vegetables.

Teething crankiness has come off an on. Owen has one bottom tooth and two top, and Emmaline has two on the bottom and her two top are poking through. Both still like to dance and clap to music, "read" out loud and yank toys away from each other.

Way to go Owen, another satisfied customer!

Water Babies

With triple digit weather this past weekend (aaaah, the icky weather is starting!), we decided to introduce the baby pool to the twins. It was a gift from my mom, and it just perfectly fit both of them! We slathered them with sunscreen, threw in a few tub toys, and they had the best time!

Welcome Baby Violet!

Well, Aunt B had her baby, Violet, a few weeks ago. We're not really sure what we think about all of this, the competition is fierce. Violet's pretty great, darnit! We grabbed her hair and smacked her on the head a few times (until Mom and Aunt B stepped in and stopped us, they're no fun) and yup, she's real.

We visited them today and Adam played with us so Mom and Bianca could talk...and talk and talk. Violet wasn't very exciting, but Mom said she's super cute only about a hundred times.

We're excited about our new BFF in Dallas!

One Cold for You, One for Me...

Well, we hit a not-so-fun milestone this week (I guess I can call it a milestone!): Owen's first ear infection. Blech. Emmaline, Owen and I have been passing colds to each other for over a month, and I was on a round of antibiotics when it started. Of course, it came roaring back on Mother's Day, and all three of us had lots of icky congestion.

To make a long story full of irritability and discomfort short, I woke up on Monday morning with a horrible earache which caused my eardrum to burst (ow, ow, OW) on my way to a PrimaCare (yup, took the kids with me, in a ridiculous amount of pain to even consider alternate plans of what to do with them), then the babies woke up the next morning with fevers. After taking them to their pediatrician, Owen was diagnosed with an ear infection. We're ammoxicillan buddies! :)

On a happier note, my first Mother's Day was fantastic, a round of applause to Vince for being so thoughtful! He gave me Sprinkles cupcakes and a gift certificate for an afternoon at a spa (my former place of employment, actually) and then we all went to lunch. I have scheduled my day for this Saturday, I am so excited! Hopefully this stupid cotton will be out of my ear by then, I feel weird walking around with it.

Though Owen is still just not interested in crawling, he does enjoy standing up with the help of furniture. Emmaline is finally doing more than just "wading" on the hardwood floor, and is starting to move her legs as well as her arms. She kind of looks like a seal otherwise, just pushing around with her arms.

When my sister was visiting a few weeks ago, she turned our Sirius radio to a "Soul Town" station one morning and we noticed Emmaline enjoyed it!

The Giggles!

We were sitting outside playing this afternoon, and I had to run inside to get the Flip video to record this!
